ANCG embraces sustainability

Al Naboodah Construction Group (ANCG) deployed 270 volunteers to collect rubbish at Ras Al Khor\’s fruit and vegetable market.

The initiative was organised in support of the \‘Clean Up the World Campaign\’, and led to the collection of 5.2 tonnes of rubbish in less than two hours.

Commenting on the volunteer day, Rob Munn, HSE manager at ANCG, said: \“We are very proud of our clean-up efforts at the fruit and vegetable market. 5.2 tonnes is amazing. It just goes to show what a valuable and tangible contribution employees can make to the environment.\”

As part of its annual sustainability week, 2,000 ANCG staff also attended free medical check-ups. Blood pressure, blood sugar, and workers body-mass index (BMI) were tested as part of the consultations.

Syed Kareem, labour relations manager at ANCG, said: \“We recognise that any business is only as good as its employees and we place high emphasis on giving our employees access to services and encouraging them to be healthy.\”

The contractor, which forms part of Al Naboodah Group, introduced new life-saving rules to its employees in a day-long focus on safety. The rules have been designed to ensure safety on the company\’s projects, and to minimise the risk of accidents.

A blood donation campaign, a clothes collection scheme for the Red Crescent were also organised as part of the sustainability week, which ended with a party for participating workers and the final of the ANCG talent competition.
